The functions of Backup and Restore in Shoper 9 are facilities for disaster recovery and to minimise the possibilities of the data loss in the case of system failures and enable easy recovery during such crisis. These functions ensure that in situations of a disaster, the user's operations are up and running with minimum downtime and continue servicing the customers.
In Shoper 9, data backup can be scheduled, if required. In the case of POS, data backup is usually carried out as a part of day-end operation. However, this is optional. The Backup utility can be used on an ad-hoc basis enabling users to backup data whenever required.
The Backup utility of Shoper 9 has enhanced features which offer more value to its users. It is possible to backup the data of multiple databases which include the Shoper Company Database, the Security database, the Secondary database, AST databases and the EIS database as the case may be. The backing up of multiple databases of the company can be performed by a single click. As a precautionary measure, the application backs up all related files and folders, in a zipped form. Transaction logs can be truncated before backup, if configured at installation.
In the case of a retail network scenario with Shoper 9 HO replication database can be treated as a work around for data backup.
