Shoper 9 provides many utilities to manage its database(s). The utilities offer benefits like data backup/ easy data recovery, managing storage space (disc space), and improving its performance.
Shoper 9 has database related options to ensure optimum use of the disc space. The database can be compacted to reduce the database file size which in turn helps in allocating the storage space required in the disc for these files. There is an option available to remove the non transacted items related masters from the data, which will help in reducing the database size. There is also a provision to clear the intermediate tables which are used by various report processes. Besides, the older backup files can be removed from the disk, periodically. This activity can be done using the menu option or it can be scheduled during the day-end operation.
The database tuning utility enables the maintenance of the databases which are required to fine tune its performance. This operation includes checking the database for possible errors, re-indexing the tables, changing the database recovery models, clearing the database log and compacting/shrinking the database.
The secondary database is used to store all masters whereas the primary database needs to store only the masters of the transacted items. The rule can be set up in Shoper 9 HOto send the full master to the secondary master and the transacted master information to the primary master. Shoper 9 POS has an option to update the master information from the secondary database to the primary, when required.
