Security Features in Shoper 9

Shoper 9 incorporates security features that focus on access restrictions to menus, nodes and users. In Shoper 9 HO, access to showrooms and replication reports can be restricted. In Shoper 9 HO and Shoper 9 POS, the security features can be activated for a company as a unit or a menu option or its sub-options.

Shoper 9 facilitates classification of items in a similar manner as the business does for the merchandise display. Additionally, reports can be generated based on these classifications, thus enhancing the ability to decide on the merchandise mix. This ensures that the business processes need not be changed to adapt to the product.

The security features allow the administrator to create users, allow/ disallow access to menu and terminals depending upon the user's position in the organisation. It also allows the users to change the initial passwords assigned. The access level is defined by assigning weights to users, menu options and Shoper companies. Therefore, each menu, user and company is assigned a value which indicates the relative authority to access the application's resources. A higher weight implies higher authority to access the application. So an administrator has the highest weight assigned to manage other users, menus and terminals.

Weights are assigned to a company created in Shoper 9. Users are assigned a company wise user priority. This value is defined with respect to each company created in Shoper 9. Each menu in the application is assigned a weight. A user can access a menu only if their weights are equal to or higher than the weight assigned to the menu. Each user is assigned a weight based on their role in the organisation. A higher weight means the user has more privileges to access the company's resources. User's access can be made selective for required menu options while restricting access to others.

Shoper 9 has options to change password; add or remove users; modify user rights; modify menu weights; and modify menu and node authorisation. In the case of HO, showroom and replication report authorisation can be modified.
