Tally in a Virtual Enviroment

Background: Tally being an on-premise software, can also be used off-premise with the help of certain software and technology. Below is stated how Tally can be used in a virtual environment.

Tally has always been an on-premise software. But over time, many users have been trying to use Tally online either through third-party applications or through cloud technology.

The Covid-19 situation in India and worldwide, has amplified this situation and has caused companies to work off-premise.

In this blog, I will be explaining how you as a Tally.ERP 9 user can use Tally in a virtual environment.

Remote Desktop Connection

The Remote Desktop Connection provided by Microsoft is one of the most used remote desktop application. It allows you to access your office system, including the files and folders saved on that system as well as the different applications on it. In short, you can access any particular PC from any other system provided you have the permission to virtually access it. Tally users can use this RDP (Remote Desktop Connection Protocol) to access Tally from any location and at anytime. The only requirement is to have an RDP set up done which can be done by any IT person as well as a stable internet connection.

Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktop

Citrix is another software that allows you to virtually access your office system at home on your own PC. It will enable remote access to Windows desktop as well as Linux and accounting software like Tally.ERP 9 from any device. Citrix has different variations of the software depending on your requirement. It has standard, Advanced, Premium versions of the software which helps you to purchase as per your organizational needs.

Windows Thin Client

Windows thin client is a central server-client set-up. It involves a central server which handles all the processing of data. This server is connected to several client PCs. This set-up helps to use data and application from the server to the client PC. The Server Client type of infrastructure can be used for most applications except for designing applications. This is another way of running Tally on a virtual environment.

Tally on Cloud

Today most software allow you to work from anywhere and at anytime as their software is not an on-premise software but a cloud-based software. Thus, to adapt to these changing times, Tally can now also be accessed through cloud technology. By using Tally on Cloud, you can access it 24 hours a day from anywhere. You get admin rights and can grant different access rights to different users. Thus you can monitor and control how your Tally data is being accessed.

Most businesses today are using Tally virtually so that work can be done from anywhere and at anytime. But to have control over the virtualisation of Tally and to support Tally virtualisation, Tally Solution has come up with an important and mandatory policy called the Tally Virtual User Policy.

Under this policy, all virtual users need to register their Tally.ERP 9 license as a Tally.ERP 9 virtual license. This will ensure you get secured access and support from not just your service providers but also Tally Solutions.
